1959 Ford Fairlane 500 Galaxie Sunliner Model Year History Overview: Ford for 1959 was basically a continuation of the facelifts that began with the 1957 all-new model, using a bumper/grille reminiscent of the ’58 Thunderbird and quad headlights. The ’59 Ford used the basic ’57 body with updated, though still conservative, styling which featured a squared-off grille with floating, star like ornaments, and simple side moldings. 1959 was the last year Ford produced the Skyliner retractable hardtop. The retractable was a unique mid-1957 arrival based on earlier developmental engineering by the Continental Division. This is an original 43,000-mile car. It has new brake hoses, 4 new wheel cylinders, new brake shoes, and new shocks.
