Model Year History Overview:
The 1955 Ford, bearing some resemblance to the 1952-54 models, was a good design, clean and highly chromed, with a rakish look of motion.  Ford offered four models for 1955:  Mainline, Customline, Fairlane and Station Wagon.

The restoration and custom project of this car was completed in 1996 and driven 20,500 miles; engine and transmission driven 5,000 miles.  Custom work included installation of a 1956 Ford grille, dash and side trim.  Features which deceive many into believing it is a 1956 Ford Convertible when it is actually a 1955 made to look like a 1956.  Other custom features include a Ford 428 cid V-8 engine with a modern C-6 3-speed Cruise-O-Matic transmission along with an updated suspension and running gear.  It has electronic remote door and trunk openers.  In order to start this vehicle you need to step on the brake pedal: a safety feature.
