1970 Mustang Boss 302 Model Year History Overview: FORD’S TRANS-AM PONYCAR The Mustang Boss 302 is what comes from those Trans-Am championships. From its 5-liter (302cid) F.I.A. sanctioned V-8 to its 16-1 steering, the Boss was designed to go quick and hang tight. The standard specs sound like an expensive European sports car instead of a reasonably priced, reliable, American pony car. The Boss 302 came in just one body style –the wind-splitting “SportsRoof” shape. The engine was Ford’s high output 302 cid 4V V-8, with new cylinder heads to permit canting the valves for better gas flow and larger diameter—2.18 intake, 1.71 exhaust. The result is big 330 horsepower from a small, lightweight 302 cid engine made even quicker with a smooth, fully synchronized 4-speed transmission with a T-handle Hurst Shifter. The Boss 302 Mustang won the SCCA Racing Trans-Am series in 1970. This car has undergone a complete 5-year rotisserie restoration. Body prep and paint were done by West Coast Restorations. Engine was rebuilt, balanced and blueprinted, and broken in on a dynameter before being installed in the car. Only NSO and reconditioned original parts were used. This car has been a SAAC and Mustang Club of America Concours Gold winner. It won the 2004 SAAC Indiana Spring Fling meet Judges’ Choice Award. Total 1970 Mustang Production: 190,428 MSRP: $3,720.00 Vehicle Mileage 86,732 original miles (300 miles since restoration) Stock Number C 163
