History Overview:

In 1929 the most apparent change made in the Model A’s appearance, aside from brighter trim and body paint were the exterior door handles on open models. With production rapidly increasing, more body styles became available. A wood-bodied station wagon introduced on April 25th was officially considered a commercial vehicle. The model A’s base price included many standard equipment features such as a combination tail and stoplight, windshield wiper and a Spartan horn. Bumpers were not included in the base price for all years of production. Production of the first million Model A Fords was completed on February 4, 1929. The two-millionth Model a Ford was built on July 24, 1929.

This 1929 Model 7-passenger station wagon was built in August 1929. It was originally purchased in the Midland/Dallas, Texas area in 1929 for use on a farm. Around 1939-40 it became an ice wagon hauling blocks of ice to neighboring farms until it was retired to the farm in the mid 1940’s. In the early 1970’s this Woody was rescued by a family friend who saw the car in the farmer’s field under a tree. He spent about four years restoring it which was completed in 1974. In 1987 a new owner brought it to California for re-restoration over a 15 year period ending in 2004. It has been restored to the current national Model A judging standards using original parts, no reproductions other than tires, curtain pan, and floor mats.
