1965 Chevrolet Corvair History Overview: The first Chevrolet Corvair was produced in 1960. The Corvair’s production run can be divided into two segments: the first generation of 1960-64, and the second generation of 1965-69. Corvairs were initially offered in three series. The 500 was the most basic package. The 700 was slightly better trimmed. Most interesting was the 900 Monza with its deluxe interior and bucket seats. The sleek 1965 Corvairs were a design revolution. The 1960 Corvair was the first mass-produced American car to offer a swing-axle rear suspension and the 1965 was the first to offer fully independent suspension (aside from the Corvette).
