1965 Thunderbird

Model Year History Overview:
1965 was the 10th anniversary of the Thunderbird. Thunderbird for 1965 continued the momentum created by the major re-styling the year before with increased emphasis on quite, refined luxury. New for 1965 was the sequential rear turn signals consisting of a series of three bulbs in each of the signal “Pods”, and with a move of the turn signal stalk, a motor and series of relays would set it into motion a repeating sequence whereby the inboard bulb would be illuminated, followed by the middle, and outboard in rapid progression, then cycle back. Laws of several states had to be re-written to accommodate sequential turn signals. Also new this year, as an option, were dual piston front disc brakes.
