1948 Ford ½ Ton-Pickup Truck
Street Rod

Model Year History Overview:
1948 marked the first really new post-war truck design.  The 1948 which were called “Bonus Built” trucks was all new with a completely re-designed cab.  Ford spent a million dollars to design and tool-up for the new cab that was longer, taller and wider than ever.  The squared-off fenders and hood and a new one-piece windshield contributed to a crisp, modern look.  The spare was relocated to underneath the box.  This model was available with the standard six-cylinder engine or the optional V-8, the faithful flathead producing 100 hp.  Ford changed the model numbers of their trucks to F-1 for ½ ton, F-2 for ¾-ton and F-3 for 1-ton models.  Other manufacturers followed suit and this format continues today with the Ford F-150, F-250, etc.
This truck is a highly modified “Street Rod”, but retains its original appearance.  It has undergone a complete body-off restoration.
